![]() ![]() Whether this is how they've always been or if it's a recent thing is, of course, unknown, as the Novakid sure don't remember.Īs they have largely kept themselves out of interstellar affairs, Novakid are something of a rare sight in the universe. Their technology is heavily steam-based, with great linked-train starships, and they favor slug-throwing pistols over melee weapons. Thus where they came from and how they were formed may forever be a mystery.Ĭompounding the oddity of their existence is their culture, which greatly resembles that of the "Wild West" era of Earth. So unconcerned are they with what happened before now, they have forgotten their own origins, having never bothered to catalog their history. A generally carefree and capricious people with notoriously short memories and attention spans, they live in the moment, wandering the stars in search of adventure or whatever, with little reflection on the past. I love the Novakids, and I hope to find more of their race on my explorations through the universe. The Novakid are one of the seven playable races in Starbound, and the only one not given an Ancient artifact.Įasily one of the most enigmatic known races, the Novakid are sapient energy beings in a humanoid shape, with metallic "brands" where their faces would be. That’s all for this week! Let me know if y’all end up visiting this village. I haven’t furnished it yet, but I plan on keeping with the rest of the western theme. I ended up building my own house at the edge of the village in the same style as the rest of the buildings. Wait ’til you see my favorite part…Ĭheck out that clock tower! Isn’t that awesome? I love how they designed it, it looks both steampunk and western! This is just another reason why Novakids are my favorite race. It doesn’t have any bedrooms, and it definitely has an office, so I’m assuming it’s a town hall. The last building in the village is a town hall, I believe. The next building is uh… A coffin-maker? An undertaker’s? I’m not actually sure, it kinda gives me the creeps… (But check out that cute windmill!) I love the Mooshi painting, it’s so cute! The third floor has a bedroom with more frontier-themed furniture. On the second floor is a piano that actually plays, and some of the NPCs will go over and play it randomly. I think the Novakid furniture is definitely some of my favorite. The saloon tables all have drinks and poker chips on them. There is a bartender that you can purchase drinks from, though. The bottles are all breakable, so you can’t take them off the shelf. I love all the western touches they put into the Novakid items! The door to the saloon even swings open! Next up is a saloon, which is just absolutely adorable. That’s where I got the armor I’m currently wearing. You can actually buy weapons and armor from him, which I think is really neat. The first building in the village is a blacksmith’s shop. The beam site is right at the edge of the village, which is pretty handy! I actually found this village on a different character, then wrote down the coordinates and flew there with my Novakid space cowboy, Jet. It’s a desert planet, though the Starbound Wiki says that Novakids can be found on any planet type. The planet it’s on is called Aten Majoris I. (Note that these coordinates are for the FrackinUniverse mod, so they might not work in vanilla Starbound.) Worry not, though! I have the coordinates to a bustling Novakid village, plus some pictures! In other cases, you can search every star system near you and not find a single one. Sometimes you get lucky, and every other planet you land on is chock-full of Novakids. If you’re as familiar with Starbound as I am, then you know that Novakid villages can sometimes be pretty hard to find. ![]()
